Whistleblowing Reforms in Early Childhood Education and Care: The 2026 Changes and Your Protections

Understand the 2026 Reportable Conduct Scheme rollout and National Quality Framework reforms, your reporting responsibilities in ECEC, and the legal protections you have when you speak up.

This course explains the two major 2026 developments affecting early childhood education and care in Australia: the national rollout of the Reportable Conduct Scheme and the National Quality Framework reforms. Module 1 covers how the two frameworks work together, the five categories of reportable conduct, and the difference between reportable allegations and convictions. Module 2 covers the three reporting pathways, what reasonable belief means, the layers of legal protection for whistleblowers, who you can report to, how to prepare a report, what happens after you report, and what to do if you experience retaliation. The course closes with real ECEC scenarios and practical steps you can take now. Approximately 20 to 25 minutes, followed by a short assessment.
